Chicken Fried Toys Dime Novel Legends 1:18th Action Figures

Created by Chicken Fried Toys, LLC

Welcome to the Backerkit for the the Dime Novel Legends, presented by Chicken Fried Toys. Working with Boss Fight Studio (control art/tampos/consulting) and Smalljoes.com (distribution), these 3.75 to 4 inch action figures are a "little" slice of the Old West. Our figures are fully articulated modern style versions of Iconic Western Heroes and Legends. Each figure features at minimum 17 points of articulation, with removable coats, vest, belts, weapons and hats! These characters are compatible and play alongside with many modern action figure lines such as Boss Fight Studio's own Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S., Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Marauder Task Force, Zombie Lab, Animal Warriors of the Kingdom and more! The lineup is slated to have 11 characters in it's initial offering. Look for more information on our Facebook page as we develop new and exciting offerings for series 1.5 and series 2! Yee-Haw!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

World DOMINATION! BWAH-HA-HAH!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Oct 05, 2016 at 07:02:31 PM

Well, something like that anyway.  I am just stoked because we are nearing 60% funded and it's so much better than a measly 50% funded.

On to the topic at hand.  Today's "Digital Details" (patent pending) are a look at the turns on the Fire Brigadier.  As you may notice, he uses the same base portrait (in this case, my best buddy Casey) as the Saloon Bartender, and we've added the sweet, sweet mullet that Kevin Costner sported in Robin Hood along with the moustaches and a goatee based on the appearance of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.  Having an artist (Dennis Chan) with the ability to easily and beautifully make these changes allows us to stretch our sculpting dollar farther without giving you guys the same 5 heads repainted over and over.

As this is a late update for this morning (ney afternoon), I'll not stretch this out any further, but look for a lot of wordy-words later tonight on the "Close of the Day" posting.  That sounds like something Paul Harvey might have said!  Yay?

Evening time, day: the Fourth.
over 7 years ago – Tue, Oct 04, 2016 at 09:05:56 PM

Hey, that fourth things both works as the date, and number of days in the KS.  What do you know?

Anywhoo, here we are closing in on the end of day 4 and things are looking pretty good.  Obviously, we could be further down the road to full funding, but I am not complaining.  Steady growth is solid and today's numbers are too:

Total Backers - 228, up 27 from last night, BUENO!

Current Pledge Total - just under $69,000

Funding total - Sometime during the early morning we passed a full 50% and now sit solidly at 55% so moves are being made!

Referrals - Facebook still leads with 36.7%, but that is falling quickly, which is good.  Other sources are doing some work!

Most Popular Reward - "All-IN!" by a mile with 104 total backers!  THIS IS GOOD!

Lot's of adjustments up to take advantage of the new "Gather the Posse" pick 5 option, which makes those changes worth it.  Keep your eyes peeled within the next 6 days or so for the new and previously unrevealed Kickstarter exclusive figure that will be open to all pledges.  We think you'll like it!

Now, on to the next piece of control art done by our amigos at Boss Fight StudioWe look at the control art for the Territories Lawman.  We had planned to address the great impact that peoples of color had on the American West throughout our line, but our buddies at BFS encouraged us to do so in series 1, and we agreed it was a great idea.  We searched the web for great historical figures, and it wasn't hard to come up with some excellent choices to mix together and come up with an iconic design.

And here is the final presentation art for the same character:

We hope you enjoy these nightly looks inside the design and development process, and welcome any comments and likes you want to throw our way!  You can always reach one of us here on the KS page, and on our Facebook page as well.  Time to skeedaddle off into the sunset partners!  See you in the morning!

Good mornin...Wait. It's NOON?
over 7 years ago – Tue, Oct 04, 2016 at 03:26:41 PM

Well, I guess being up so much babysitting this project finally caught up with me and I crashed, so apologies for the late start today.

Today we are going to look at a different set of digital sculpt screen caps.  In this case these are turns for the armature and joint system at the heart of our figure.  You'll see that most of it is industry standard, but that the waist has a ball the enters the lower torso.  This unique feature (from Marauder Task Force) allows for easily swapping one upper torso with another making customizing these builds a breeze, while still being sturdy and having a great range of movement.

Of special note, is the barrel pins for the knees.  We set these up to the same diameter on each side to allow for easy insertion at the factory and to make customizing easy as well.  The pins and pegs that insert to form joints are beefy and solid and we will maintain this size throughout all of our future builds (except the smaller female body) for consistency and ease of parts swapping.  Truly modular!

Thanks for your continued support for our little project, and lets push those numbers up hard to get to the stretch goals and unlocks.  Like us on Facebook and Twitter to share with your friends!

Winding Down Day 3
over 7 years ago – Tue, Oct 04, 2016 at 02:31:34 PM

And as we head into the night of day three, here are the numbers and update for now:

200 different backers even Steven.

Almost $63,000 in pledges

I'm going to go ahead and call it half-way there at 49% funded

$311 is the average pledge, with FB still being the strongest referrer at 39.4%

95 backers (49%) are for the "All-IN!" by far the most popular choice!

And, one new intermediate goal added ahead of schedule by popular request!  Check out the "Gather the Posse!" which nets you FIVE figures of your choice (not four as it incorrectly states).  If you guys like, I'll make a new level, same deal so that it's clear all the way through the text.

Also, in addition to the Digital Details post I am making each day, I thought it might be fun to work our way through the 12 pieces of control art done by our buddies (this means you Andrew!), amigos (and amigas), and compadres at Boss Fight Studio, so enjoy that look and see for your self how things change from concept, to control art, to digital sculpt to final color renders.  It's very cool!

Thanks again for your continued support and for believing in the stuff we are trying to get to market!

Day Three Digital Details!
over 7 years ago – Mon, Oct 03, 2016 at 01:25:49 PM

Good start this morning after yesterdays decent gains!  Please feel free to share a link and tell your friends everywhere who might have an interest in our lineup!

We continue to roll out pics of digital sculpt screen caps of different items from our work each day or two during the course of the KS campaign. These will serve to both involve you in our process, and to educate with terms and images that are industry standard.

Today we'll look at a digitally sculpted screen cap called "turns" or "turnarounds" of one of the head sculpts or "portraits". Images are done in grayscale to allow for more contrast in detail and to give a clearer image of what the final 3D printed part will look like in hand. Each turn will have multiples angles of the same piece that might include front, back, side, top, and even isometric views of the object, in this case a portrait of the Create Your Own Cowboy.

Fun Fact, this figure is going to be named in a poll currently running on our Facebook page and the current leading title for him is "Cowpuncher".  If you have a better idea, or just want to vote scroll down the FB page a little bit and let us know!

If you have any questions regarding this piece or of a more technical nature, feel free to ask here, and I'll get you an answer. I hope you enjoy a peek inside the work done on our series 1 lineup!

Thank you for your support for our Kickstarter project!
